Boule de Suif

In December 1870, during the Franco-Prussian war, the Germans occupy Rouen and some people from the town decide to travel to Dieppe. Their carriage is stopped along the route by a German officer and in order to obtain their release the "good citizens" first win the confidence of one of their fellow-travellers and then, when she has served their purpose, they reject her.
